County Administrator
Fluvanna County, Virginia (pop 25,691; $67.9 million FY12 budget) invites applications for the position of County Administrator from experienced, results-oriented professionals with an emphasis on strong communication and management skills.  Fluvanna County is centrally located in the beautiful Piedmont Region of Central Virginia, approximately 20 miles east of Charlottesville and 50 miles west of Richmond, Virginia’s historic state capital.  The County is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors, elected for staggered four year terms, with the County Administrator serving as Chief Administrative Officer.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree, with master’s preferred, in public or business administration, governmental studies, or a related field. ICMA endorsement as a credentialed manager/administrator is also desired.  The successful candidate should demonstrate a record of professional growth and  progressively responsible public administration responsibilities with seven or more years of operations and management experience in government.  A high level of knowledge and appropriate experience in public finance, budgeting, economic development and strategic planning are also required.  A candidate who demonstrates an understanding of current rural community issues and possesses considerable knowledge of Virginia state governance and its impact on local issues is also desirable.  Experience in balancing growth issues,  understanding and evaluating the resulting challenges of growth is also a plus.  Residency within the County is required within six (6) months of the initial date of employment.  Visit www.co.fluvanna.va.us for an  application and additional information on the County.  Salary range $95,000-$130,000 DOQ

Deputy Sheriff
The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for a Deputy Sheriff.  Individual must have a high school diploma or equivalency, possess strong written and oral communication skills, be familiar with basic computer concepts, no criminal history and successfully complete a physical examination.  Must be willing to sign a 2-year employment contract, perform shift work as required and attend a 15 week academy for non-certified officers.  Applicant must be 21 years of age with a valid and current operator’s license.  A criminal background check will be performed.  DCJS certified individuals are encouraged to apply.  Send resume and/or State or county applications to:  Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office, P.O.
