ESTABLISHMENT: [Excerpt from the minutes of the Board of Supervisors' March 19, 2008 meeting.]
Under Section 58.1-3151, the Board is authorized to establish a County Finance Board. This item was brought to the Board’s attention at their meeting of February 6th 2008 and the Board at that time moved to establish the Fluvanna County Finance Board. Investment decisions would continue to be a function of the Treasurer; however, the Finance Board would supplement the professional advice provided.
With no one wishing to speak, Chairman Moss closed the public hearing.
MOTION: Mr. Allbaugh moved the ordinance [attached hereto] entitled “An Ordinance to Establish the Fluvanna County Finance Board” be adopted. Mr. Weaver seconded. The motion carried with a vote of 6-0. AYES: Allbaugh, Booker, Gooch, Ott, Weaver and Moss. NAYS: None.
AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH THE FLUVANNA COUNTY FINANCE BOARD
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE FLUVANNA BOARD OF SUPERVISORS that the County Code be, and it is hereby, amended, in Chapter 2, by the addition of a Section 2-5-2.1, as follows:
Sec. 2-5-2.1. Establishment of County Finance Board.
There is hereby established a County Finance Board pursuant to Virginia Code Sec. 58.1-3151. The membership, powers, duties, compensation, organization and procedures of the Board shall be as provided in Virginia Code Sec. 58.1-3151, et seq., or any successor statutes which concern substantially the same subject matter. The initial board shall be composed of the chairman of the governing body of the County, the treasurer of the County and a citizen of the County of proven integrity and business ability appointed by the circuit court of the County. The term of the citizen member shall be for four years, except as otherwise provided by law.
